My name is Joshua Heckler, I am a freelance web and graphic designer/developer. I received my Bachelor of Science degree in
Graphics Technology from Fairmont State University in December of 2012. Prior to this I received my
Associates of Science in Graphics Technology from Pierpont Technical & Community College.
I am qualified to do this line of work through education and experience. At the university I learned the principles and advanced topics of design
for web and graphics. I utilized the Adobe Creative Suite along with various other software to create my graphics. I build my websites in a number of ways;
making use of Adobe software, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, php, and Content management systems. I also create multimedia projects with video, animation, and
sound editing software.
After college I immediately started working on a flash based portfolio to send to potential employers or clients. I picked up a few web jobs and photography
shoots. In between projects I took lessons online, read and practiced tutorials, and bought various books on design, programming, branding, drawing, photography, and
whatever else I thought may help me be a better designer/developer. Education is key to doing well in this profession. Software is always being upgraded, and things
are always changing.
